Chad Hollister has opened for Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and Tom Petty, and in the fall of 2009 he released Chad Hollister, his fourth CD. The self-titled disc was produced by Anthony J. Resta (Elton John, Collective Soul, Shawn Mullins).

Hollister’s musical style shines original with his percussive background. His personal lyrics are appreciative of a life on Mother Earth and his music is “pure sonic alchemy,” according to Resta.

During this special presentation Classic will provide an in-depth look at musician Matt Cameron of the NY band Eating Alone. about eating alone
Matt Cameron is the musician behind eating alone, a Brooklyn-based experimental electro-acoustic
band. Cameron is a self-taught musician who plays guitar, bass, ukulele and keys with a unique style
that balances an improvisational spirit and experimental edge with a post-rock approach. The music of
eating alone has been favorably compared to Boards of Canada and Philip Glass and has been called
“very visual.” Cameron cites the aesthetic of Guided by Voices, Great Lake Swimmers, The Books and
Grizzly Bear among his influences. The music of eating alone emerges from a mix of Cameron’s
influences and his moods and daydreams. Recording is done is a small studio in Cameron’s apartment
which gives a lo-fi flavor to the songs.
The newest release from eating alone is ‘the long haul,’ a collection of songs that lay bare the emotions
of an adult examining his life growing up with an estranged father. The songs are layered with acoustic
guitar, synths, samples and occasional scattered beats that add density and gravity to the material while
remaining minimal enough to allow the lyrics to be the focal point. Exploding with raw emotion and
clever imagery, the songs on ‘the long haul’ contain aggressive anger, quiet sadness and even fantastical
elements which explore and expand upon the running theme. The release of ‘the long haul’ will be
marked with listening parties in New York City and distribution to college, independent and web radio
along with interviews and special radio appearances. A fall tour is planned before the band returns to
the studio.
Cameron is an intense musician with a vision for the future of eating alone. In early 2009, he released
an album titled ‘the way we were and the way it was.’ Currently, a new eating alone song is released
every day in a project called “365 days of eating alone,” whose purpose is to expand and experiment
musically. In addition to the music, Cameron has forayed into video, taking his unique approach to
music to vintage films and home movies, re-imagining them into visual complements to the music of
eating alone.
‘the long haul’ will be available on major online distributors on July 21, 2010.

During this episode Classic will interview touring musician Chad Jeffers. Nashville, TN December 2, 2009 – Groovenslide Publishing has just released 25 Notes for the Successful Musician, written by Chad Jeffers. The book is the perfect primer on how to become a successful professional musician, written by a musician who has honed his craft with some of music’s biggest acts. Designed as a step by step instruction book on the do’s and don’ts of the music business, as well as a bit of an inspirational journey for those ready to take the next step, Jeffers draws upon his considerable experience to make the book both entertaining and instructional. Jeffers knows of what he writes. Through the years, he has performed with such superstars as Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood and Kenny Loggins. As a member of fan and critic favorites the Pinmonkeys, Jeffers had his own record deal with RCA. So when he offers up a chapter titled “Being Signed as an Artist and Being Dropped As An Artist,” he draws from personal experience. The beauty of the book though is that even with chapters that could turn into a negative session on the music business, Jeffers instead singles out the positive aspects and what to take away from the experience to make the next round even better.
